Cartomizer's are a simple to use, one piece device. They were designed to make the two piece (atomizer + cartridge) into one design.

A cartomizer make's the 510 or ego a tighter, more streamlined unit. Fewer pieces means it's simpler to use.

They are technically disposable, but you can get away with refilling them quite a few times.

What is a cartomizer? -- basically the filler is IN the atomizer. They usually have the coil positioned vertically in the centre of the barrel. Around that they have some sort of permeable tube and the space is packed surrounding the outside of that tube with filler. You fill it with juice and it will wick through the filler and soak that permeable tube surrounding the coil.

The "cartomizer", however, combines the atomizer and the cartridge into a single piece, making the 510 a two-piece system. The cartomizer screws right into the 510 battery just like the regular atomizer, and since it also contains the e-juice solution, a separate cartridge isn't required.
